Storage Shed Relocation Diagram

Following up on our conversation with Penny please see diagram bellow:

During the teams conversation Friday, after the meeting with the client, we mainly disscuss shape, size of shed 11'x14', and the possible handicap accesible paths. Above some idea of a path that can use the existing coble stone to decorate and define the different paths.

There were some questions as to how does permeable concrete works. Please see bellow a section detail

This is still under discussion, Todd wanted us to look into Katsura Palace in Japan. So we still have not made a decision on the material for the handicap accessible area.

Bellow I attached some images of what I found online from searching Katsura Palace http://picasaweb.google.com/christopher.s.wils/JAPANJune2009GardensAndNature#

Todd please notify if this is what you were refering to.

This is up for discussion.

  1. REVISED SITE PLAN
    Some thoughts

    1. RAMP - will get shorter as ground level rises. Your site section from (say) the gate to (say) the "store-bought" shed will show the change.

    2. NEW SHED LOCATION
I wonder if it would be better to move the new shed closer to the existing one. The "forecourt" entry does not need to be as large as it is in this design, and the upper sitting are might benefit from more area to the left of the paved area for planting and a softer buffer between the sitting and the wall of the new shed.

    3. ROOM TO BUILD THE NEW SHED
It is good that there is enough room to get all the way around the new shed, so that the old one does not have to be torn down until the new one is finished and secure, with everything moved into it. Also lets you finish and maintain the siding.

    4. KATSURA PAVING
Yes these are the kinds of images I wanted you all to see and think about. Also, Elle's photos of where two materials (sizes of stones, etc) meet are illuminating. I did not mean for you to use the Katsura paving details or patterns literally, only to begin to play with the smaller granite pavers you will have left over, and thinking about slabs of granite, or sections of concrete, and where the permeable pavers go, to make interesting patterns and a pleasing blend of textures. Careful not to cut off a HC path with the small stones, for example as you come down around the lattice shed.

    5. LATTICE PAVILION
I look forward to seeing your examples - sketches - of how the siding of the new shed, and the more open "lattice work" of the new siding for the pavilion "speak to each other."

    6. PERGOLA/TRELLIS
And what about this element? Used as a definer of spaces, as a welcome gesture over the ramp(?), to further define the "back wall" of the upper sitting area, to modulate other entrances - sitting areas - screens of planting, etc.?

    You are making good progress.
